After being given a hint by assistant Scoutmaster Dylan, Zac and Oliver set off on their quest. They finally reach the hiding place where the binoculars are hidden that will help them spot the woodpecker that they think is guarding the first arrow. Just as Zac begins to look around, Bunker appears and demands the binoculars. Zac sees no way to resist the boy who is older, physically larger, and higher in rank than Zac and Oliver. Oliver, being less practical, is indignant, but, as usual, the older boys ignore his opinion. Taking the binoculars, Bunker begins scanning the surrounding area.
